Why a Wedding Candy Buffet?

Wedding candy buffets continue to be a hot trend. They are a fun "Thank You ' to your guests, and add great color to the decor of your reception. For a unique favor idea your guests will remember consider a wedding candy buffet. Here are a few tips to creating a stress free candy buffet bar:

How Much Candy?

You will want to have candy for consumption and for display. For consumption ( take home ), figure 6 ounces per guest. That is the equivalent of 3 full size candy bars. So if you have 200 guests = 1,200 ounces = 75 pounds. We recommend no more than 7 to 10 different candies, so that works out to between 5 and 10 pounds of each. For the display most parties get the bridal party colors. Others have themed the colors around a holiday or a college! Usually 5 pounds of an item is good for each display container. Please keep in mind 5 pounds of a candy like pillow mints is going to fill more volume than 5 pounds of a candy like Jelly Bellys. Lastly, you may want to sprinkle around some accents, like chocolate hearts in gold or silver foil, or some individually wrapped suckers and mints to match your color.

When to buy the Candy

Plan to order at least 4 weeks in advance. This will give you time to check how the product will display and if you have enough candy for your wedding candy buffet! Most orders ship by the next business day from when they are placed, and we ship from Cleveland Ohio. Ground delivery time in transit to the continental United States takes from 1 day (Ohio) to 4 days (California).

Decorating the Table

Check with your reception location as to the types and sizes of tables available for displaying your candy buffet. Also agree upon a good location. When decorating the table consider:

  • Table Size and height
  • Using boxes/books underneath to give the display varying heights and add style
  • Elegant/Classy looking cloth covering
  • Strings of lights for under the cloth
  • A table runner in one of your wedding colors
  • Decor that matches your theme
  • Flower petals
  • Bridal or engagement pictures
  • Childhood pictures of the bride and groom

How to Make Your Wedding Candy Selections

Use your wedding colors to inspire your candy selections. Buffets with coordinated colors look much better than random color selections. Please keep in mind you will most likely not be able to match colors exactly. The color of items viewed on your computer monitor will vary based on your display settings. The actual color of the candies does vary from batch to batch right out of the manufacturer & factory. Please call us with any exact color match needs.

Theme of Your Wedding

When you have a specific theme on your special day, consider working those themes into your candy buffet. This should make the experience even more memorable for you and your guests. The possibilities are endless.

How will my guests take the wedding candy home?

We suggest favor bags with a 10-12 ounce capacity. That way they will be able to fold the bag closed. It may also stop a candy lover from taking too much and depriving your other guests of these sweet treats.

When to set it up

We suggest going through a “dry run” at home. This will allow you to see how your displays will look and how you will want the containers arranged. Take a picture or write it down. This will serve as a guide for the actual set up at the reception. Many reception halls will allow you to bring out items for your reception the day before. If they are not booked the night before they usually allow you to set up too. If that is the case, then set up your table and display, but do not put the candy out. That should take very little time the next day. Assign the fun task to a good friend or family member. They will be glad to help, and will get to sample the sweets. If you cannot set up until the day of your wedding, we suggest asking someone to take on the task of set up. Some florists will do this for a small fee.

Make it Fun!

A wedding candy buffet is a great do-it-yourself favor that your guests will not soon forget. Make your guests feel like a kid in a candy store!
