Just two years, later, in 1985, Nerds were named “Candy of the Year” by the National Confectioners Association. Traditionally, Nerds have two flavors in each box that are separated with a partition, though there are many types of Nerds today with mixed flavors! Fun fact - a Nerds breakfast cereal based on the candy was available briefly in the 1980s. Like the candy, the cereal featured two separated flavors in each box.
