Charms Sweet and Sour Pops History

Charms Sweet and Sour Pops are a type of lollipop that was introduced by the Charms Candy Company in the 1980s. Unlike traditional lollipops, which have a single flavor, Sweet and Sour Pops have a dual-flavor design, with one side being sweet and the other sour.

Charms Pops

The original Charms Candy Company was founded in 1912 by Walter Reid Jr. and was known for its hard candies and other confections. In the 1950s, the company introduced its Assorted Squares candy, which became very popular. In the 1980s, the company expanded its product line to include Sweet and Sour Pops.

Charms Sweet and Sour Pops quickly became a hit with candy lovers, thanks to their unique flavor combination and fun design. The candy comes in a variety of flavors, including cherry, grape, lemon, lime, orange, and raspberry. The sour side of the candy is coated with a tangy powder that adds an extra burst of flavor.

Today, Charms Sweet and Sour Pops are still produced and sold by the Tootsie Roll Industries, which acquired the Charms Candy Company in 1993. The candy is available in a variety of packaging options, including bags, boxes, and individual wrappers. Charms Sweet and Sour Pops remain a popular choice among those who enjoy a sweet and sour treat.

Charms Pops Memories

These Pops share fond memories through the generations! When I was pregnant with my first child, I took a Lamaze class. The instructor suggested that it would be a good idea to bring sour candies to the hospital to help with your thirst during labor. I looked around and couldn't quite find something I thought I would like.

Suddenly I spotted the Charms Pops in an "Old Fashion" Candy Store! My husband said my face lit up as I approached the display! I bought 20 of them, because it had been years since I had seen them! At our next class I was telling our instructor about the Charms and she went to the store and bought them out! She also handed them out to all the couples in our class! When our little baby boy was born, pops "worked like a Charm." ~ Dawn from Wisconsin
